One of my best friends just had a baby. Usually when someone has a baby, all the gifts are for the baby and not the parents. Since I am heading to Brooklyn tomorrow to see the cute little baby, I thought I would make something sweet for my friend and her husband. Chocolate and peanut butter always seem to please.
You will need the following ingredients:
- 1 bag of large marshmallows
- 1/2 stick butter
- 5 cups Rice Krispies Cereal (use Gluten Free Rice Krispies if you are gluten sensitive)
- 2 Reese’s peanut butter chocolate bars (4.25 oz each)
- 5 mini Hershey bars
- 1/4 cup of peanuts
First, I like to pour the 5 cups of cereal into a large bowl so when the marshmallows are melted, you can pour it all in at one time without having to keep measuring cups. It’s better if you mix in all the cereal while the marshmallows are still very warm.
Unwrap all the Reese’s chocolate and break into small pieces. Set aside in a bowl.
Then, you will want to place the butter in a pot and melt it with the marshmallows. Make sure the heat is not too high or it will burn the marshmallows. Stir the butter and marshmallow mixture constantly until all the marshmallows have melted.
Once melted, pour the cereal into the marshmallow mixture and stir so the cereal is coated with the marshmallows. Then stir in the Reese’s chocolate pieces.
Pour the mixture into a pan and press down into the corners to make it sets properly. Sprinkle with peanuts and mini hershey bars (broken in half).
Place in the fridge for at least 2 hours to cool. Once chilled, cut nicely into squares.
