With Labor Day upon us, summer BBQ season will soon come to an end. Most people celebrate the holiday by grilling and BBQ-ing their favorite meat or vegetable. Well, I would like to add a new recipe to the mix… grilled pizza! This recipe is pretty simple and very satisfying. Instead of going through the trouble of making the Gluten Free dough, I bought it at Whole Foods. If you are familiar with gluten free baking, you know it is quite the science experiment at first.
You will need:
- one bag gluten free pizza dough
- one bag part skim mozzarella cheese
- fresh basil
- your favorite tomato sauce
- pepperoni (optional)
- gluten free flour blend
First you will want to take the dough and place it on a flat surface. Sprinkle a little bit of the flour on the surface first so it does not stick. Then, using a rolling pin, you want to roll out the dough and thin as you can. Keep turning the dough in different directions until it is the desired shape and texture.

First place your grill on high and cover it. Then you will want to take the dough and place it on a flat surface in your kitchen. Keep turning the dough in different directions until it is the desired shape and texture.
Next, place the dough directly onto the grill. Let it cook for 5 minutes on each side. You should see grill marks.
Once both sides are cooked, remove the dough from the grill and top it with tomato sauce, fresh basil, cheese and the topping of your choice. I also like to use chicken sausage. Place the pizza back onto the grill so the cheese melts evenly.
Wow! This looks so good! I have a friend who recently started a gluten-free diet and she asked me if I had any recipes. I told her not really, but that I would send her a list of foodie blogs that had some good ones. I’ll definitely send her to yours!
