Who doesn’t love sweet potato fries!? Unfortunately, this treat comes with an added amount of fat from the oil. Instead, grilling the fries creates a crispy and satisfying crunch without the guilt. More importantly, this recipe is super simple!
You will need:
- 4 sweet potatoes
- Chilli powder
- Cumin powder
- Garlic salt
- Olive oil (spray bottle)
First, take the sweet potatoes and peel them. Then, poke 6-7 holes in each potato (with a dull knife) around the surface to create air pockets. Place the four sweet potatoes in the microwave for ten minutes. Remove the potatoes from the microwave and let them cool for a few minutes before cutting them. Use a sharp knife and cut the potatoes length wise into long fries. Place the fries on a baking sheet and spray with olive oil. Then season with garlic salt, pepper, a sprinkle of chili powder (depending on personal taste), and a sprinkle of cumin powder.
Next, turn on your stove to heat the grilling pan. Spray the pan with coconut oil or canola oil before grilling the potatoes. Lay the potatoes on the hot grill pan and let them cook until you can see dark grill marks on one side. Flip each potato strip with a fork or spatula so both sides are crispy.
Once the potatoes are grilled place them on a tray with your favorite dipping sauce. I took a few tablespoons of ketchup and mixed it with half a tablespoon Sriracha to create a spicy dip.
They are so good, you won’t even know you’re missing the oil! Enjoy them.
